The Pets Badge steps include fun things to learn and do to help pets. Emma will introduce our project in the first video and you can print out the Pets Badge brochure for you or everyone in your troop. We like to use it like a passport and stamp each step as its completed. Complete them all and Girl Scout Brownies (or their troop leaders or parents) can purchase the Pets Badge from their Girl Scout Shop.

DO THE STEPS FOR THE BROWNIE PETS BADGE

Step 1. Learn how to take care of a pet. In this video, Bella shares all the things you need to do to take care of a cat. Watch it, then tell your family or friends what you learned!

Step 2. Keep a pet comfy. We made LOTS of no sew pet beds for Young-Williams and we’ll show you how, too. All you need is fleece, scissors, a little stuffing, and this video made by Ellen. We also painted and decorated around 100 boxes for the foster kittens to sleep in.

Step 3. Learn how to keep a pet healthy. Emma interviewed a veterinarian to find out more about this important information. Watch this video and share with your family or friends what you learned.

Step 5. Feed a pet. Help feed your own pet at home, volunteer to feed the pet of a friend or neighbor, or donate pet food to a local shelter in need.

Step 4. Make a pet feel loved. Pets love to play and cat toys are fun to make out of everyday things like toilet paper rolls, pipe cleaners, bits of fleece, and old baby socks. The Kitten Lady has great ideas on her web page and YouTube channel. Learn to make some fun toys with this video and make one or more for your pet or to give to a pet you know. Better yet, make toys to donate to a local shelter!
